Unlike other trike manufacturers, Catrike does not have welded bosses on the bottom of their frame to clamp the boom, but rather uses a clamping assembly that wraps around the frame. The Boom clamp assembly is used on all current Catrike models and with some modification can be used on even the oldest models.
This is designed to be used with the Catrike Boom Shim which goes between the outside of the boom and the inside of the main frame tube. The ends of the shim slide through the slot in the main frame and are held in place by the skewers of the boom clamp.
This system allows for easy adjustment of the boom to adjust for leg length while still clamping the boom securely and preventing the boom from getting scratched.
Together, the whole clamp assembly weighs 218g.
While this boom clamp assembly does come with every Catrike, it will also be useful for the DIY trike builders that are using a 2in main frame.
