Going on your first trike ride can be a fun and exciting experience! It can also be a little nerve wracking figuring out what you need. That's why we put together this helpful checklist for you so you can be prepared to ride safely!
Safety Flag Tall, brightly colored (orange or neon recommended)
Headlight White, with blinking or steady mode (daytime visibility helps!)
Taillight Red blinking light or brake-reactive if possible
Reflective Bands and Accessories - Reflective accessories can help you be seen from a distance.
High-Vis Vest or Jacket Neon with reflective strips is ideal
Helmet Lightweight, well-ventilated, with rear reflectors
Rearview Mirror Bar-end or helmet-mounted, critical for beginners
Bell or Horn Alert pedestrians and other riders with a quick ding or honk
Water Bottle Cage & Bottle Hydration = safe riding
Phone Mount (Optional) GPS or route safety, but dont get distracted!
Spare Tube or Patch Kit
Mini Hand Pump or CO₂ Inflator
Multitool with Allen Wrenches

Light Waterproof Jacket For surprise rain showers
Leg/Arm Warmers or Layers Easily adjustable for changing temps
Skullcap or Buff For warmth under helmet
Clear or Yellow Tinted Glasses Protect your eyes and improve visibility in different light
Map, GPS, or GPS App
Trike Bag or Panniers For carrying tools, snacks, or extra layers
Kickstand or Parking Brake Makes stops easier
Lock For errands or cafι breaks
Check tire pressure before every ride.
Charge lights regularly (USB lights are great!).
Practice signaling and using mirrors in a quiet area before tackling busier roads.
