Retired Veteran aged seventy-eight, living in NC, I had low back and shoulder pain with balance issues riding my upright bike. It was getting to be too much trouble recuperating after a ride. After volunteering with the VA helping visually impaired vets, I found out about the VA Adaptive Sports Programs and the support Utah Trikes has with the VA program. After reviewing the extensive Utah Trike YouTube educational videos, I found the trike I would like and the VA Adaptive Sports Program provided an ICE Adventure, Bafang mid drive about a month ago, already have two hundred wonderfully easy miles on it, looking to hit 1K this year.
This trike is solid and well crafted. It is the right seat height for me and adjusted easily to my 6’1” frame. I can, with help, lift it in the back of a Lexus GX 470 by shorting the boom a bit. It is easy to ride and with an unlimited gear ratio with the Enviolo rear hub. I like the VA sports motto “Fitness for Life.” This trike will help me remain active and stay fit for my life to come. Being a recumbent with various riding positions, it is conducive to less stress and pain on my legs and shoulders while enjoying the outdoors and an active lifestyle. Thank you for the support from the VA and Utah Trikes. I would recommend the ICE trike for anyone.
