You may be wondering why we're writing an article about things to do in Payson when we're located in Springville. The reason for this is that we used to be located in Payson before we out grew it and moved to our shop here. We'll always have a soft spot for Payson and we figured we'd make you guys a fun guide of things to see if you ever find yourself in charming little Payson, Utah on the south end of Utah County. Here's our guide of ten fun and affordable things to do while in town.
The Nebo Loop offers so much to do whether you have a whole weekend or just an hour or two. Payson Lakes campground, the Grotto trail, and Devil's Kitchen are among a few of the attractions on the Nebo Loop. Follow the road next to the Peteetneet Museum and just keep going. The Loop comes out near Nephi, Utah.
The Peteetneet Museum is open year round. You can stop in to take a quick tour of the historical rooms depicting a bygone era. Throughout the year they have multiple exhibits such as the Payson Quilt Show. The outdoor area is beautifully maintained with a play area and sledding during the winter. There is also an outdoor amphitheater with multiple concerts and outdoor events throughout the year.
Historic Main Street is Payson at its best. Here you will find cute little shops and restaurants that keep the city vibrant and eclectic. You can also find the Payson City Public Library on Historic Main Street. Next to the library you'll see the famous alley with its picturesque mosaic that we've taken hundred of trike pictures with. On the other side of the alley you'll see the old Utah Trikes building where we built and shipped trikes from for more than ten years. Overall, it is a quiet place to unwind before continuing on a long road trip.
The walking tour begins at the North West corner of Utah Avenue and 200 East. You will not regret walking or cycling through this cute tour of the Historic Downtown area of Payson City. You will pass iconic places like Joe's Coffee Shop and the Peteetneet Museum.
Memorial Park is at the heart of Payson City. Not only is it beautifully maintained, but it is also the location of many important festivals, such as The Scottish Festival, Salmon Supper, and Payson City Onion Days. At Memorial Park, you can also read about and see historic monuments, such as the Peteetneet Creek and the Bear Cage.
The Huish Theater has been remodeled and is now open for business. You can enjoy open mic night and other scheduled events
The Payson Temple is one of the most beautiful structure in all of Payson. The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints maintains the grounds impeccably manicured. Although there is no visitor's center, everyone is welcome to walk around the beautiful property where members of the church make sacred covenants. There are plenty of benches and seating to enjoy a peaceful picnic. You are sure to leave the grounds of the Payson Temple invigorated and at peace.
Payson City Pool is open from Memorial Day weekend to Labor Day. This is the location where many fond memories are made throughout the years. There are multiple small and one large pavilions that can be rented for parties as well. You can enjoy a yummy snack and refreshing beverage at the snack shack, or you are welcome to bring your own refreshments and meals.
Stadium Cinemas is the town movie theater where all the locals go to enjoy newly released movies. There is comfortable seating, and if you're in town on Tuesday, you can enjoy a five dollar movie all day!
If you're looking for a fun time out alone or with a group of friends or family South County Lanes is the place for you! You can reserve a lane, play laser tag, billiards, and arcade games at this family friendly fun center and bowling alley! You can enjoy a yummy breakfast in the morning or any of their treats and meals during the day!
