Why James Rides a Trike! Cycling with Parkinson

My 7 speed trike is the only bike I can ride with my Parkinson’s disease. I no longer have the balance to do my favorite activities, like hiking or riding a 2 wheel bike. It’s been awful being stuck inside. It felt like my life was over. But with this trike, I feel like a kid again. It’s like riding a go-cart. So much fun! I don’t notice my disability while I’m on it, plus I’ve been getting much needed exercise and getting out in the neighborhood and meeting new people.

I live in a very, very hilly area, but it’s not an issue at all with this bike. I can go up pretty steep hills with no problem with the 7 speed options. If I do get tired, I just pull over, lock the wheels, and rest in the very comfy chair. What a great invention this thing is! I wish I had known about it 8 years ago. I just love this bike.

Finally this bike enabled me to do something I thought I'd never would: attend the Common Ground Fair in Unity, ME. It is a huge event, covering a lot of acreage and features local bands, animals, antique farm equipment, organic farming and gardening--so many things. My trike enabled me to fully immerse myself in this amazing experience--and I had my chair with me so I could sit back and enjoy it all! I forgot I had a handicap.

The best part for me was the whole corner of the fair that was run by The Bicycle Coalition of Maine. These amazing people welcomed me with open arms. I felt so welcome and respected. And they knew about you: Utah Trikes.
